Toxin free DIY hand sanitiser MYrecipe!!! DID YOU KNOW??? Most DIY hand sanitisers are really just

Germ or No Germs?? The debate is real!!

I personally love germs! Yep you heard me LOVE them! I strongly believe that in moderation our bodies need germs to build immunity.

I am the mother who lets her kids get dirty, eat food of the ground, and pick their nose and eat it.

BUT...

I am also the mother that teaches her children to wash their hands, cough and sneeze into a tissue and throw it away. (check out this experiment on the best way to limit sneeze and cough spread)

As you know I prefer to limit our exposure to chemicals as much as possible, so I create a chemical free DIY hand soap and hand sanitiser to use at home and some travel sizes that we keep in our bag's.

I don't use Anti-bacterial anything not soap, sprays, sanitsers, creams, powders, tissues etc. However I have used them for once off for an actual medical reason.

I DO use hospital grade hand sanitiser if I am visiting the hospital, or if one of my beautiful friends has just had a gorgeous little bubba. I also have used it when visiting friends that are being treated for cancer or are very ill and cannot afford to come in contact with ANY germs.

The reason I pick and choose when to use these products is because when I do use them I want them to work. They have been created for a reason and they work but they have been created to be used occasionally when needed. I do not want to be exposed regularly to some of the toxic ingredients such as Triclosan which is used in antibacterial products, toothpaste, soaps, hand sanitisers, deodorants, cleansers, mouthwash, laundry powders, tissues, antiseptics for wounds, antibacterial cleaners, garbage bags, clothing etc.

Triclosan may cause endocrine disruption and worst of all may be an antibiotic resistance and immune system assault.

Like I said earlier I created a MYhand sanitser, I love it and I have shared the recipe with lots of people. I know that it won't kill germs like normal hand sanitisers do and I always tell people this and like always I tell people it is important to make educated decisions.

Decisions and beliefs are YOURS and yours alone, you have the right to make your choices but as always I encourage you to make educated ones.

This doesn't just mean researching and making a choice and forgetting about it. It is important to keep learning because things change.

The thing with education is it is always evolving and we are learning more and more everyday. What we know today, we didn't know yesterday and may change tomorrow.

This gives us the opportunity to learn new things, things that may make us change our choices, opinions or beliefs! And this is WONDERFUL!!! It is TOTALLY OK to change.

So this brings me to my point I have LEARNT & GROWN and I have made a CHOICE to CHANGE and I am going to explain why.........

I have changed the name of what was once known as MYhand sanitiser to the MYno H2O hand gel.

It was wrong of me to have called my recipe creation a "hand sanitser" because I have learnt after continual learning and discovering that is nothing of the kind.

My recipe contains Witch hazel and Aloe Vera Gel as well as 100% pure essential oils, which I have come to realise is really a hand cleaner that does not require water.

There isn't an easy, effective DIY Hand Sanitizer that we can make without using the necessary 60% minimum to 95% maximum Ethanol or Isopropanol!! These ingredients are what actually make hand sanitsers work, at the recommended percentages they are effective antiseptic, antibacterial and antifungal agents. They kill 99.9% of the bacteria on hands 30 seconds after application and 99.99% to 99.999% in one minute.

Witch hazel with only 14% alcohol, doesn't even approach the 60% necessary to kill anything.

This study (click here) reports that marketed products with less than 60% alcohol failed across the board to reduce the number of bacteria on the hands.

So this is why I have changed the name however I personally am going to continue using it as a "no water needed" cleansing gel. I have also created an MYhand Sanitiser recipe also for those who require a more anti-bacterial option.

So to get everyone creating a healthier and safer environment I have included our MYrecipes below....
